More Tenacious D More Tenacious D

It’s been an interesting week for rock duo Tenacious D, who have gone viral on TikTok ahead of their upcoming Spicy Meatball Australian tour.

Jack Black and Kyle Bass have caught the attention (and laughs) of fans across the globe, with Black dramatically lip-syncing to the pair’s cover of Britney Spears…Baby One More Time and dancing with his bandmate.

Tenacious D recently covered the Britney Spears classic for the new film Kung Fu Panda 4, in which Black reprises his role voicing the animated protagonist Po Ping. At the time of writing, Black’s TikTok video has amassed over 53 million views in just six days.

At the Los Angeles movie premiere for Kung Fu Panda 4 a few days ago, a reporter with Entertainment Tonight asked Black if he had a message for Spears since the video went viral.

The singer, actor and comedian shared his love for the Oops!… I Did It Again vocalist, stating, “Britney, if you're watching, I love you. I love the song.” Discussing the duo’s cover of …Baby One More Time, Black added, “We're very proud of it, [and] I hope you like it, too.”

When reporters suggested that Tenacious D should consider a collaboration with Spears, Black responded, “I'm here! I'm ready when you are. I'm waiting by the phone. I got kicks! I don't quite have Britney kicks, but you know, I got some moves.”
