Hear the muso's debut single 'C'est Toi'
Stalwart Australian-born, LA-based musician, Tame Impala member and frequent Pond collaborator Cameron Avery has announced his eponymous solo project with debut single and video accompaniment C'est Toi, further building on a broad and storied career by securing a deal with legendary US label ANTI.
The multi-talented performer is further adding to his history of prolific artistry with his sublime new strains, which were recorded with US producer Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Erykah Badu, Elvis Costello) and come carrying the weight of a love gone awry, Avery's lyrical lamentations dancing their way delicately around nostalgic, baroque-esque soundscapes to create a calming sway of a debut single that certainly serves to whet the appetite for future treats to come.
The accompanying video was filmed between New York and LA by revered directors Mike Bennet and Nathan Lewis, of JOY Collective, and was produced by Mood Studio. New York actors Mara DaCostareis and Aris Schawbe populate the universe as the song's two central lovers, giving faces to feelings and helping to encapsulate the intimacy and honesty of the track.
Granted, this is not technically Avery's first solo pursuit — he has previously performed under the moniker of The Growler — nor even really his first solo song, having already unveiled a teaser effort under his own name in We're Just Making It Worse (ft Alexandria Savior), but C'est Toi certainly feels like a cementing of that statement of intent, coming in the wake of support slots for the likes of The Last Shadow Puppets and Father John Misty, and leaves us pretty damn excited to see what he's got up his sleeve now that he has the support of ANTI behind him to boot.
