A band member from indie rock quintet Strangers has been bashed in an alleged unprovoked attack in the Sydney suburb of Rozelle this weekend.

Timmy Hansen is said to have been assaulted by eight men this past Saturday night. The band posted a photo of Hansen along with a message to others to be careful out on the streets of Sydney - warning, the image contains graphic content.

"Hey Sydney - When's it gonna be enough? The street violence and blatant disregard for other human beings lives and safety is out of control", the post read.

"Last night our beloved Timmy boy was jumped by 8 men in Rozelle and beaten to a bloody pulp for absolutely no reason. Don't worry he's doing ok and will make a full recovery..."

"What the fuck is going on with this city??!! We wish him a speedy recovery and hope the police catch these un-evolved pieces of rubbish and throw the book so hard at their empty skulls."

TheMusic.com.au has contacted the band's management and is awaiting further information.

Strangers released their debut album Persona Non Grata in 2012.
