23 September 2020 | 8:51 am | Staff Writer

"The challenge of building a new future is one that we’re excited to tackle."

Major annual music conference SXSW will launch an online festival as part of its 2021 offerings.

After being forced to cancel this year's event due to the COVID pandemic, the famous Texas event will present a digital experience next year featuring conference keynotes and sessions, screenings, showcases, networking, and exhibitions.

“The challenge of building a new future is one that we’re excited to tackle," CEO and founder, Roland Swenson, said.

"This has been such a year of change and we, like the entire world, are reshaping our perspective on how we connect.

"We’re pleased to be working on SXSW Online as part of our program for 2021, and regardless of platform, we will continue to bring together the brightest minds from creative industries worldwide."

Entries open on Tuesday 6 October. The dates for SXSW EDU Online are 9-11 March and SXSW Online goes ahead from 16-20 March. Click here for more details.
