SWIMMelbourne-born, London-based producer SWIM – born Hamish Lefevre – is coming home to Australia, today announcing a one-night-only live show at Sydney Opera House.
In four short years, SWIM has become one of the biggest names in dance music, selling out Australian shows and featuring on European festival line-ups.
Taking place on Friday, 5 June, a 12-piece string orchestra will accompany SWIM at the show, and it follows the release of his latest album, Dear Friend, recorded with a full film orchestra and released last November.
For the fascinating, unique show, SWIM will pair his emotive brand of electronica with orchestral arrangements. He’ll present a show his audience has never witnessed before—on one of the world’s most iconic stages.
“It’s a huge honour to be performing at the Sydney Opera House and seriously something I could’ve never imagined growing up in Australia,” SWIM commented in a statement.
He continued, “Getting to bring my music to life and perform live alongside a string orchestra is a show I’ve always dreamt of doing.”

“The album isn’t necessarily about missing a particular person,” Lefevre explained in a recent interview with The Music.
“It was written about missing many things, like missing family and friends, a place, missing your home. And that’s why the title is Dear Friend. What I like about it is it can be this broad thing that means different things in different circumstances and to different people.”
He continued, “With my first record and also Dear Friend, there was so much emphasis that I put on the transitions between each track. If you listen to them in order, they’ll all flow through perfectly and merge into one another, like you’re listening to a DJ mix.”
