To coincide with World Mental Health Day 2017, industry charity Support Act and Aussie institution Alberts have announced a new helpline for musicians and those working in the music industry who may be experiencing mental health problems.
Through its Tony Foundation, Alberts has committed start-up funding to enable Support Act to launch the helpline; the first such service in Australia specifically resourced to address the challenges faced within the music industry.
"Having seen first-hand through our family's work in the music industry the prevalence and impact of mental health issues, we are excited to be supporting this innovative tailored approach to assist music professionals and drive improved mental wellbeing throughout the industry," Tony Foundation Executive Officer, Emily Albert, said.
Support Act Chief Executive, Joanna Cave, added, "We are thrilled to be able to partner with the widely respected Albert family through the Tony Foundation, and to be able to respond to the needs of the Australian music community in such a meaningful way."
Details for the new service are expected to be announced shortly.
