Maddah looks to Joondalup

Soundwave's Perth leg is to move from Claremont Showgrounds to Arena Joondalup after the festival has been approved to take palce at the latter venue recently.

The report initially came from promoter AJ Maddah's Twitter account, who also said that the future of Soundwave in Perth would depend on the success of the 2014 event.

“Not sure if SW will come back in 2015,” he posted. “We'll see how it goes at Joondalup.”

Claremont Council has been repeatedly resistant to music festivals and Maddah's other festival interest, the Big Day Out, moved from Claremont to Arena Joondalup last minute. The Big Day Out's Perth future is also in doubt moving forward and is not expected to happen next year.

Headlined by Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold and Alice In Chains, the festival kicks off at Brisbane's RNA Showgrounds Saturday 22 February. Megadeth recently dropped off the bill.

UPDATE: Soundwave's move to Joondalup has forced all ages Future Music Festival's spin-off Good Life event to move from that location to Soundwave's original venue of the Claremont Showgrounds.

Good Life posted the following statement about the swap of venues on their Facebook page this afternoon, saying the demands of WA music fans remains the top priority for them in staging events. It read as follows:

Good Life Music Festival, along with Future Music, Frontier Touring and Mellen Events, have always prioritised the demands of WA music fans and work hard to create the best festival experience for the public. It's important to us that fans of different genres are able to experience the best festivals on offer in WA.

With this in mind, Good Life Festival has agreed to move our Monday 3 March event in WA from our original site of Joondalup Arena to Claremont Showgrounds, with the support of the venue and the local Council. We felt strongly about assisting Soundwave with the logistical issues they were faced with, as our finishing time is much earlier than Soundwave. This allows Soundwave to fully utilise Joondalup Arena and offer the experience they envision for their festival patrons.

We're very excited with the move, as Claremont Showgrounds is far more accessible for our patrons. The change in the venue has allowed us to add an additional stage and announce two new artists: Uberjack'd and rising local star Axen.

The change in venue will not affect anything that Good Life has on offer – you'll still find the biggest line-up ever witnessed at a underage music festival, including four time Grammy winners Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the world's #1 DJ, Hardwell, UK chart-toppers Rudimental as well as local heroes Knife Party to name a few. Good Life has the highest safety implementations to ensure our patrons are in a safe environment, as well as free carnival rides, free sports activity, a crazy foam pit and giant waterslide!
