Janine Morcos has stepped into the newly created role of Head Of Publicity at the esteemed local label
Music industry veteran and Soundwave Touring label manager Janine Morcos has been announced as the newest staff addition to burgeoning local label Cooking Vinyl Australia, where she has assumed the newly created role of Head Of Publicity for the growing company.
With her first official day with Cooking Vinyl — 7 April — having apparently gone pretty smoothly (well, we didn't hear about any major disasters, at any rate), Morcos will oversee "all media-related activity" at the label, bringing with her not only experience garnered during her time with Soundwave Touring but previous stints at Warner Music Australia and Roadrunner, for good measure.
"Janine is a highly respected figure in both the local and international music community; to have her on board is a big step forward for the company," Cooking Vinyl AU co-founder Leigh Gruppetta said in a statement. "Janine's experience and strategic approach to release campaigns is a huge plus for our artists and labels. We're thrilled to welcome her into the fold."
It's an ever-growing fold, at that — in the two years or so since its inception, Cooking Vinyl Australia has quickly developed into one of the nation's foremost indie labels, inking partner deals with the likes of Cooking Vinyl UK, Dine Alone, Razor & Tie, Resist and Thirty Tigers, as well as counting under its purview such esteemed artists as Kate Miller-Heidke, Shakey Graves, You Me At Six, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lindi Ortega, Frank Iero, Modern Baseball and many more.

Morcos is the second new recruit to join the label this year, following hot on the heels of new CVA label manager Andrew Hajgato, who came to the company after seven years with Universal Music Australia.
Cooking Vinyl also recently launched its own rock imprint, Double Cross, which counts Cancer Bats, Gallows, High Tension and Red City Radio among its artists.
