"I’ve always said that you will never hear Corey Taylor sing like this,” Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan says of the upcoming unreleased album.

Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan has given fans a hopeful update on the impending release of the long-unreleased album, Look Outside Your Window.
The album, reportedly recorded in 2008 alongside the band’s fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, is said to be a stark departure from the aggressive, alt metal sound that Slipknot had become known for in the preceding years.
While All Hope Is Gone maintained their signature style, the experimental nature of Look Outside Your Window reportedly featured a sound more akin to Radiohead than anything else, with the more melodic approach featuring Clown, vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarist Jim Root, and drummer Sid Wilson in an entirely different sonic enviroment.
Due to the record being owned by the band rather than their record label, the release of the heavily-anticipated Slipknot album has been up in the air for some time. In recent years, however, rumours about its arrival have swirled, with plans for its release in the wake of the We Are Not Your Kind touring cycle being delayed due to COVID.
However, in 2023, Clown promised it’s “definitely coming out in 2024 and it’s such a great album”, just months after Taylor teased the album, noting “it's so dope and so different”.
“It doesn't sound like anything Slipknot have ever done, that's why it's its own thing,” he added. “To me, it really is the long-lost album. The music is so beautiful, it probably has some of my favourite melodies that I've done, and people are really going to dig it.”

Now, Clown has spoken to Vulture about some of the band’s highlights, including the best unreleased material they’re currently sitting on.
“Oh my God. I don’t even know where to begin,” Clown started. “I mean, there’s audio, and then there’s video too. We have tons of incomplete concepts, some just under completion.
“There’s a lot of Slipknot I wish the culture could have. There is so much I create throughout my career but very, very little is actually put out there.”
Turning his attention to Look Outside Your Window, Clown reaffirmed the record does exist despite its protracted release, and gave fans a promising update in regards to its impending arrival.
“It was a piece of art Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and myself created in 2008,” he explained. “We made it up the hill from the studio that we recorded All Hope Is Gone in, in Perry, Iowa. No one believes that it even exists, or that it’s ever going to come out.
“I’ve always talked very highly of it and I’ve always said that you will never hear Corey Taylor sing like this,” he added. “It’s just a whole different approach in my mind. Recently, I approved all the art. I’ve also worked really hard to get it mixed and mastered.”
However, it’s currently unknown whether the album will arrive ahead of Slipknot’s Australian return, having announced that Knotfest will take place in February and March 2025, with A Day To Remember, BABYMETAL, Polaris, and more accompanying them around the country.
