Slipknot ProfileHeavy metal stalwarts Slipknot have parted ways with drummer Joey Jordison, the band confirmed in a statement released today.
The remaining members of the outfit, who formed in the mid-nineties with Jordison one of the original members, said that in the post on their official website: "it is with great pain but quiet respect, that for personal reasons Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways."
The band assured fans that they will continue on without Jordison and hope they would be able to shed more light on the split sometime in the near future.
Jordison has spent the best part of the last year working on his latest music project, Scar The Martyr. The band released their self-titled album back in September.
The Music spoke with the veteran drummer a month after the Scar The Martyr album dropped and he was adamant a new Slipknot record, their first since bassist Paul Gray's death in 2010, was on the cards.
“What I can say is there is material, there will be another Slipknot record, and then one after that. We are by no means going anywhere," Jordison said.
