More Simple Minds More Simple Minds

Series two of the Red Hot Summer Tour returns for four dates across Australia in February 2024, kicked off by co-headliners Simple Minds and Icehouse.

In 1981, Scottish outfit Simple Minds touched down on Australian soil for the first time after being invited by their good friends, Icehouse. What a way to celebrate a four-decade-long love affair with their Australian fans.

Joining the two co-headliners for the 2024 edition of the Red Hot Summer Tour are Aussie rock legends Noiseworks, Daryl Braithwaite, and the recently reformed Bachelor Girl.

Making their return to Australia for the first time since February 2017, which included a run of A Day On The Green tour dates, Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr had this to say about their long-awaited return: “We had the best time during that six-week period [in 1981], and we’re ecstatic to be able to come back and to do it all over again with our mates, Icehouse!

“We love everything about this band and Australia. We are always welcomed with open arms and have such a special bond with our Aussie fans. We can’t wait to get back there and play in some of the best outdoor locations in your beautiful country.”

Icehouse vocalist Iva Davies added, “Back in 1981, on ICEHOUSE's first journey overseas, we were introduced to Simple Minds and their great stage presence when we went on the same tour supporting them around the UK. It was an exciting time, and we all got on so well that we asked Simple Minds to support us when we returned to Australia.

“They did, and Australians became one of the most welcoming audiences in the world for them. I’m really looking forward to our co-headlining tour next year - it will be an opportunity to relive some memories and thrilling to see how far we’ve all come since those first shows.”

The Red Hot Summer tour will kick off on Saturday, 10 February, at the Mornington Racecourse in Victoria, followed by Rochford Wines on the Yarra Valley on Sunday, 11 February. From there, the bands head to Queensland, putting on a show at Sandstone Point in Bribie Island on Saturday, 17 February, and wrap up at Perth’s King’s Park & Botanic Garden on Wednesday, 21 February (Daryl Braithwaite and Noiseworks won’t appear at the final show).

The Ticketmaster pre-sale begins tomorrow at 10 am local time and ends on Thursday, 3 August, at 9 am local time. Tickets to the general public will be sold from Thursday, 3 August, at 9 am local time via Ticketmaster.
