Sia Knocks Adele Down For Top Spot On ARIA Albums Chart

'This Is Acting' smashes its way to #1

Australian-born pop superstar Sia’s new record, This Is Acting, has smashed its way onto the ARIA Albums Chart, debuting at #1.

It’s the latest release to block Adele’s acclaimed sophomore album 25 from reclaiming the top prize, which sits at #2 for another week, while David Bowie’s Blackstar and best of Nothing Has Changed also hold their place at #3 and #4, which mirrors last week’s results.

Rihanna’s ANTI rounds out the top five, a debut that sees homegrown talent RÜFÜS down to #6 from last week’s #1.

Other top 10 debuts include Charlie Puth’s Nine Track Mind at #8 and Dream Theater’s The Astonishing at #10.

Triple j Hottest 100 winners The Rubens sit comfortable at #16 two weeks after the fact and recent Falls visitors Bloc Party have debuted at #15 with Hymns.

Over on the UK Albums Chart, This Is Acting debuted at #3 with Bowie’s Best Of and Black Star sitting at #1 and #2 respectively and Adele being bumped from second place down to #4. Bowie’s passing sees 14 of his records in the charts.

The release of Sia’s new record also saw 2014’s 1000 Forms Of Fear jump 62 places to #30 on the UK Albums Chat, and also bumped it up to #64 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, former One Direction member Zayn has debuted at #1 with his first solo track and YouTube hit, Followtalk.

Sydney’s Flume remains at #2 with his Kai collaboration Never Be Like You feat. Kai, and Rihanna’s album makes another appearance with single Work, featuring the one and only Drake, landing at #10.
