New Select/Falcona Agency To Exploit Celeb DJ Market

The joint venture agency looks to get band members behind the decksa

A new joint venture agency between Falcona and Select Music, The Essential Agency is set to cater solely for the DJ sets of established artists.

Already active, the agency was officially launched today with a roster that includes locals Phil Jamieson (DJ set), San Cisco (DJ Set), DZ Deathrays (DJ Set) and Elizabeth Rose (DJ Set) as well as the behind-the-decks interests of internationals like Two Door Cinema Club DJs, Kaiser Chiefs (DJ Set) and Alex Kapranos.

Guest DJ spots from touring artists are becoming a common occurrence – not only at after-parties but in nights surrounding a tour – and a DJ tour is becoming a cheap alternative for exposure, compared to touring a full band and their equipment.

Co-founder and Falcona Director Chris Murray said today that he believes, “Seeing your favourite band play their favourite songs in an intimate setting can be just as rewarding as watching them rock a stadium show the next night.”

Select's Stephen Wade said that the company was “excited to be entering into new territory… in what will be a first of its kind in Australasia” and that DJ opportunities will “bolster financial options outside the present live touring circuits that already exist.”
