Sando Sold But Live Music Is Still On The Cards

22 October 2012 | 3:57 pm | Scott Fitzsimons

The receivers confirmed the news today

Sydney's Sandringham Hotel has been sold, it was confirmed today, with the receivers suggesting that live music will play a part in the future of the site.

A statement from the receiver Morgan Kelly of Ferrier Hodgson confirmed the sale today, with Kelly saying he was “delighted with the result.”

In addition the statement said that “the new owner had indicated an intention to run the business as a live music venue”.

The buyer and price remain confidential, but The Daily Telegraph speculated today that it was Corner Hotel and Northcote Social Club owner Tim Northeast, for a price between $2.6 million and $2.8 million, below the $3.6 million in debt owed to BankWest.

The Sandringham Hotel will continue under its current guise until December, but there is no confirmation of the new owner's plans after that. It is unlikely that the venue will continue trading under the current name.
