With a new album on the way and world-conquering tours rolling almost constantly, Royel Otis are coming home for an epic homecoming this October.
Officially an arena-sized act, the duo—comprising Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic—have announced a massive Australian tour.
The fun begins at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Friday, 17 October. It continues at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Monday, 20 October, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Friday, 24 October, and concludes at Perth’s Ice Cream Factory on Wednesday, 29 October. All dates are licensed all ages.
If you’re keen, get ready, because the Frontier members pre-sale opens at 10 am local time this Thursday (10 July) ahead of the general sale, which begins on Monday, 14 July, also at 10 am local time. You can find more ticketing information on the Frontier Touring website.
Royel Otis’s debut album, Pratts & Pain, was released last February. Since then, the Australian indie pop outfit has continuously toured in Australia and across the globe, gone viral with covers of The Cranberries’ Linger and Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder On The Dancefloor, and dropped the single moody in May.
Now, the duo are touring in support of their forthcoming album, hickey, which will be released on Friday, 22 August, via OURNESS/Capitol Records. The record was announced in late June, along with the jangly new single, car.

Next weekend, the duo will be at home, performing stripped-back sets at Melbourne’s Punter’s Club on Saturday, 19 July, and Sydney’s Vic on the Park on Sunday, 20 July. Fans who have pre-ordered hickey through Royel Otis’s Australian store and entered the ballot here are in the running to attend the events.
As to the album’s title, Royel Otis quipped that it’s “naughty and romantic all at the same time. Because love bites harder than any other emotion in the world.”
Continuing to address fans, Maddell said of their forthcoming tour dates, “We just want to make people dance together. Everyone’s invited.”
