International pop juggernaut Robbie Williams allegedly rebuffed an offer of $1 million to perform three songs at this year's AFL Grand Final, it has been reported.

The star is in the country at the moment on his Swing tour, freshly recovering from his lauded Brisbane Entertainment Centre gig in the lead-up to hitting Sydney this Saturday and Sunday — and it is consideration of those intense travel plans and wider tour itinerary that apparently won out over the allure of another seven-figure amount to add to the bank balance.

Williams' tour promoter, Chugg Entertainment, was contacted for further information, though representatives said no comment would be issued with respect to the reported rejection.

The revelation may provide some encouraging back-story for the consequent announcement that Tom Jones and Ed Sheeran would step up to perform at the Grand Final — although Williams is still not a local artist, he has at least been involved with sports before, regularly organising charity football matches as part of non-profit initiative Soccer Aid (plus, the soccer-centric album cover for Sing When You're Winning doesn't hurt).
