American electronic music icon RL Grime pleased his Aussie fans when it was announced he’d appear on the forthcoming Wildlands bill, ringing in the New Year with FISHER, Chase & Status, Marlon Hoffstadt, Tinashe, Sammy Virji, Royel Otis, and many more.

But of course, with any festival comes fans savouring for sideshows. RL Grime will be performing a sideshow, but in one city and one night only.

Returning to Australia after five long years, RL Grime will perform in Brisbane and Perth for Wildlands, while the exclusive sideshow will take place in Melbourne. Sure to build up hype, RL Grime will perform at The Timber Yard on Friday, 3 January 2025.

The show, presented by TEG Live and Untitled Group, marks RL Grime’s first headline show in Australia since 2018.

The electronic music star has gone viral in recent years thanks to his viral remixes of Chief Keef’s Love Sosa and Kanye West’s Mercy, gaining an abundance of praise. His shows have drawn just about anyone you could imagine to cameo on stage, from Tony Hawk to T-Pain to Guy Fieri.

For his upcoming Melbourne show, RL Grime will be accompanied by Aussie icons Ninajirachi and Kaliopi.

Promoters warn that tickets for the headline show will disappear quickly, so it’s best to sign up for pre-sale tickets here (they're still available now) before the general sale opens tomorrow at 12 pm AEST. You can find more ticketing details via the Untitled Group website.

RL Grime released his first album on his own label, PLAY, last year. In February 2019, he launched the label Sable Valley.

He said about the endeavour: “Since the inception of RL Grime, I’ve had this goal in the back of my mind to start my own label. My Halloween mixes have always been an outlet for me to curate and showcase new music, but the natural next step for me was to start a label.

“My whole life, I’ve been obsessed with the process of searching for and finding what's next, and this is a way for me to use [my] platform to highlight emerging talent that I believe in.”
