Rihanna shocked the music world on the weekend by performing her first concert in eight years for a random cause: billionaire Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding celebration to Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, India.
According to a recent TMZ article, the Shut Up And Drive singer was reportedly paid $6 million for her concert – a private event for the newlyweds at the Dhirubhai Ambani Memorial House.
Anant is the youngest son of Indian billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani and one of three heirs to his empire. In addition to being the heir to his father’s wealth, Anant is a director at Reliance’s new energy business (per CNN).
For her first gig in eight years, Rihanna performed a 16-song set that included Consideration, Stay, Man Down and Birthday Cake for the first time since 2016, as well as all-time classics, Needed Me, Where Have You Been, We Found Love, Umbrella, Diamonds, and collaborative tracks Run This Town (originally starring Jay-Z) and All Of The Lights (featuring Kanye West).
You can check out the complete setlist and footage from the concert below.
Rihanna’s performance at the pre-wedding ceremony was her first full-length concert since November 2016 and follows her 2023 headlining slot at the Super Bowl halftime show. The Music’s Emma Whines declared that Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance was “worth the wait” and continued:

Racing through her catalogue of bangers, Rihanna performed mashed-up hits of Where Have You Been, Only Girl (In The World), We Found Love, and Rude Boy before embarking on her collaboration with Drake, Work. Sadly, the rapper didn't make an appearance, but the backup dancers more than made up for it, adding to an already incredible show. Joining her backup dancers, Rihanna jumped into Wild Thoughts and Pour It Up before tackling her Kanye West collaboration All Of The Lights.
Finishing the show with Run This Town, Umbrella and Diamonds, it's safe to say Rihanna gave a dazzling performance that left us all wanting more.
Last month, rapper A$AP Rocky turned the excitement up a notch by dropping hints about girlfriend Rihanna's upcoming ninth album.
After he was asked about the album, Rocky issued a brief update with a cheeky grin, stating, "She's working on it.”
