The month-long mecca of mirth kicks off at the end of August

Sydneysiders are in for a full month of laughs courtesy of the upcoming Sydney Fringe Comedy program, presented as part of the 2016 Sydney Fringe Festival, with its A-class line-up boasting both emergent and established drawcards including Rhys NicholsonBecky LucasGen Fricker and more.

The wider spread totals more than 100 shows from local and international performers taking place at Marrickville's Factory Theatre between 30 August and 30 September, with additional creators signed up including award-winning up-and-comer Sam Campbell, triple j's Kyran Wheatley (alongside Nicholson and Ray Badran), fellow j-mate and Free To A Good Home podcaster Michael Hing, FBi personality and loveable mischief-maker Eddie Sharp, Axis Of Awesome's Jordan Raskopoulos, comedian/actor/podcaster Cameron James — who will be performing with Lucas and Fricker at the trio's Pure Gold power hour — and even some troupe action in the form of Improv Theatre Sydney's new show, Post-Its.

That's barely scraping the surface of what's on offer across the full 30 days of the comedy Fringe and, best of all, the majority of shows only cost between $10 and $15.

"We really want our audience to experience acts that they’ve never heard before, and for that reason we try to keep ticket prices as low as possible," program director Shane Smith said in a statement. "We encourage everyone to come to the festival hub and take a chance on what could be their new favourite comedy act — we believe that is the true festival experience."
