The first video from the rock act's new album

Regular John have today announced their return, with a brand new album Strange Flowers to be released in spring. On the back of that release the band will tour this September - and theMusic.com.au has the dates.

You may have already heard the first single from the album -Slume - which is currently at radio, and we've the premiere for 'the track's video today. Watch the intense clip here.

The band's second album features a more streamlined sound that their previous record, the band's vocalist Ryan Adamson told theMusic.com.au that it wasn't a conscious choice.

He said the only difference was to "make use of the musical tools we had amassed over the years. Some change in the band allowed us to spread our sonic wings a little more too. We wanted to make an album that would reveal subtleties to a dedicated listener, so we spent a little more time on the aural trinkets."

The video for Slume is quite intense and is primarily a close shot of a naked Adamson.

"The video kind of came about by accident in that we had a totally different approach in mind," he admited, "but the end result revealed itself to suit the songs lyrical theme quite nicely. We wanted the video to leave some people feeling a little uncomfortable, yet intrigued, like maybe they shouldn't be seeing it - that sick thrill of reading someone else's diary... The song is quite naked in its honesty, so it seemed right to get naked for the video."

As for the new record, Adamson understands that, "Maybe some fans won't dig it compared to the old record, but it would be foolish to pander our art to someone else's tastes."

Tour dates are below, tickets go on sale Monday 13 August.
