Annual regional travelling event the Red Hot Summer Tour has announced its second all-star line-up for 2017, with celebrated Aussie singer John Farnham stepping out centre-stage as the festival's main event.

Along with The Voice, certified Australian musical icons James Reyne and Daryl Braithwaite will also be performing, as will 2003 Australian Idol runner-up and internet meme Shannon Noll and '90s alt-rock titans Taxiride to round out the bill.

Kicking off in late January and running through mid-March, the Red Hot Summer Tour will hold events in Mannum (SA) — at which fellow veteran troubadour Ross Wilson will also join the bill — as well as Mornington (Vic), Ballarat (Vic), Port Macquarie (NSW), Bribie Island (Qld), Dubbo (NSW) and Kiama (NSW).

This line-up stands as separate to the previously announced roster of Icehouse, James Reyne, Daryl Braithwaite, Shannon Noll, Dragon and Pseudo Echo set to play shows in Mulwala, Mt Gambier, Launceston (sold out), Batemans Bay, Hunter Valley, Jacobs Well and Bendigo around the same time, taking the wider Red Hot Summer Tour offering up to 14 shows across nearly four months.

"We have been proud to present some fantastic line-ups on the Red Hot Summer Tour over the years," promoter Duane McDonald said in a statement. "This year, the tour features two amazing line-ups shared across 14 different shows. We are proud of the evolution of the Red Hot Summer Tour to feature some of the biggest names in the business, and to have the opportunity to take them to regional areas of Australia. The 2017 shows will rock the socks off of music fans."

The Red Hot Summer Tour has been bringing Aussie legends to regional stages for nearly a decade now, with this year's most recent batch of events largely selling out on the back of the strength of their line-up, which saw the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Noiseworks, The Angels, Mark Seymour & The Undertow and The Badloves bring the rock over 15 shows in the early months of 2016.

With a similar calibre of acts set to grace stages next time at bat, there's no reason to suspect that 2017's event will be any less successful; tickets will go on sale from 9am this coming Monday, 19 September, via Ticketmaster.
