Purple Sneakers Has A New Editor

A changing of the guard...

It’s a bittersweet week for us here at Purple Sneakers as we announce the departure of Parry Tritsiniotis after five years with the title and welcome Jessie Lynch to the editor’s chair.

Jessie is one of the country’s most respected music journalists, with credits across mastheads as varied as Rolling Stone, The Music, Girlfriend, 10 Daily, The Brag, New Idea and many more and will bring with her a passion for music, nightlife and new artists as the title enters a new era as Australia’s #1 title for young music fans.

As a wide eyed, bright member of Sydney/Eora’s dance music community at the ripe age of 18, Parry began contributing to the site in 2018. After three years of contribution as a sub-editor, Parry then took editorship in 2021, building on the near two-decade legacy of the brand, while expanding it into new territories.

Purple Sneakers has since been established as the undisputed home for youth focussed music news and content with a strong focus on bridging the gap between revolutionary underground scenes in Australia and the global popular music market that it sits within. Last month saw the title’s website achieve an all-time audience high, tripling its audience in the last twelve months, while the now-iconic Purple Sneakers TikTok has hit over 2 million video views, becoming the go-to news source for under 30s.

On his time at the title Parry stated, “It’s been the biggest honour to tell the stories of so many amazing artists, an opportunity which I was grateful for every day, but putting on for my city in the past two years and all the amazing new voices emerging from it will forever be something I’m most proud of.

“The Australian music scene is in an amazing place, I hope I've contributed to that. Thank you to the artists for trusting me every day with their souls on the line. Thank you to Sydney's underground dance scene who welcomed me with open arms, and all the Area babies who are about to take over. Hearing your music every day changed my life.

“Purple Sneakers is in its strongest position ever under the custodianship of SGC Media with the belief and investment to both continue its rapid growth and keep true to its roots. Purple Sneakers has served the community for almost two decades and I look forward to watching its next two decades, albeit as a reader and fan.”

On starting as the new Editor of Purple Sneakers, Jessie Lynch stated, “I’m so thrilled to be joining the team at SGC Media to take on the role of Editor at Purple Sneakers. Having long been a fan of the iconic music site, I’m eager to build on the legacy of the website and brand to connect young music fans with the artists they love while continuing to champion the next generation of Australian superstars across hip-hop, club, electronic and indie.

“Having seen all the SGC Media brands’ rapid growth over the last twelve months, I’m excited to see what the team can achieve in 2023."
