"Live to fight another day, dude."

It's unlikely that anyone will ever let Puddle Of Mudd forget their now-infamous cover of About A Girl by Nirvana, but vocalist Wes Scantlin will especially be reminded of it for a long time.
While the rest of the band played well, Scantlin painfully struggled to sing a song above his vocal range - it's not an easy song for a vocalist.
In a new interview with Songfacts, the singer was asked how he felt about the performance that went viral, amongst exploring old and new Puddle Of Mudd songs.
"Oh yeah, you know what? I was acclimating, and it was a tiring day and I had already performed five or six songs at one time, and by the time I got to that one - which I shouldn't even have done because I cannot nail that song - I was a little tired," Scantlin admitted. "It looked and sounded like total shit. But live to fight another day, dude."
The She Hates Me vocalist has grown; following criticism after the cover aired on SiriusXM in January 2020, he initially responded, "Rise above others who try and take you down… I’m at my BEST NOW… and that’s all that matters. I pray for all of you because we care. Jealousy is toxic, and toxic people are a waste of time. We walk away with nothing but a SMILE."
Wes Scantlin also told Songfacts that the new Puddle Of Mudd album is almost done: "It's getting mixed and mastered, and sprinkling the 'Disney magical fairy awesome stuff' on top of it is John Kurzweg, who did Come Clean and Life On Display," the singer said. "He's making it happen, man. It's incredible. It's wonderful to listen to. I pat myself on the back and give credit and love to each and every person that collaborated with me on this next record."

In 2016, Wes Scantlin was subdued by bail bond agents and police immediately after the troubled singer came off stage from a show in California.
According to TMZ, Scantlin was restrained and escorted from Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach, where the band had just finished a headline show, reportedly because the 43-year-old musician skipped a court hearing for the second time after he was charged for vandalising his old house earlier this year.
He is believed to have broken into the property in January and destroyed audio electronics, surveillance cameras and an alarm system before police arrived and arrested him at the house.
