The band are just about to jump on a plane and head to CMJ.

Melbourne's Lowlakes are kicking goals all over the place right now, with their debut EP making some serious ground in the US market and scoring them invitations to the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City this month as well as a bunch of showcase dates along the west coast of the US, where they'll do what they can to impress the bigwigs in the industry over there.

This is all thanks to a fairly solid amount of support from the thriving American college radio scene since the release of the EP; their songsSong For MotionandBuffaloattracting plenty of praise and scoring a bunch of airplay.

The band are keeping the ball rolling, with heaps of work already done on their debut album and a tentative release date of early-2013 has been set. The first taste of new material for that record comes with their song Cold Companyand the the video that accompanies it, which we're premiering on theMusic.com.au this afternoon.

The song is droney and ambient but with a certain '80s pop sensibility at its core and the clip reflects that somewhat. It's a blurred vision of dancing and singing, with staid dreary colour that matches the relative coldness of the tune. If that makes no sense to you, we suggest you just watch the damn clip.

The band play a hometown farewell show on Saturday 13 October at Ding Dong.
