More Pond More Pond

Globetrotting Aussie outfit Pond have lost thousands of dollars in equipment and gear after their tour van was broken into in Portland earlier this week.

As reported by local paper the Portland Mercury, the Perth-bred band emerged from their midweek gig at the city's Doug Fir Lounge to find that "a pelican bag of gear" had been stolen, and, along with it, a set of hard drives containing tour recordings that, according to the paper, were to be used on Pond's next full-length.

The band took to Facebook early yesterday (AEST) to publicise their misfortune and plead for assistance in looking for/recovering their irreplaceable lost goods.

"Hey Portland!! We had a pelican bag of gear stolen from our van," the band wrote. "If ANYONE knows ANYTHING we're willing to offer a CASH REWARD for any information - we're desperate for the hard drives as they have countless hours of music and effort stored!!

"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spread the word and talk to your mates and let us know how you go.

"PS," they commented afterwards, "no questions asked for anyone with any info or esp if they can come up with goods."

The band's post has generated a massive response from their fans at home and abroad, with several commentators expressing their condolences and disappointment, as well as offering potential leads for the band to follow such as local Craigslist addresses, police contact and checking pawn shops.

We'll keep an eye on this story as it develops - with any luck, the universe will smile on the Pond boys and they'll see their valued goods again.

Pond will be back in the country in time for December's Beyond The Valley festival. See our dedicated hub for more information.
