Pitch Music & Arts Festival organisers have issued a new statement on the event website and revealed that punters who attended this year’s festival are eligible for refunds.
Last month’s event was hit with fire authorities warning punters not to attend, three suspected drug overdoses, including one death, and the event being shut down on its second last day. Fire authorities ended up mandating that the event close after previously advising punters to depart.
In a statement posted to social media, organisers Untitled Group said about the incidents leading up to its cancellation on Sunday, 10 March:
“Through consultation with authorities, we have been directed to cancel the remainder of Pitch Music & Arts 2024 in light of an updated extreme fire danger warning issued this afternoon for tomorrow (Monday, 11 March).
“We have consistently followed the guidance of relevant authorities throughout the entire process. Nobody is in immediate danger. We encourage everyone on site not to rush; calmly pack up and depart either this evening or early tomorrow.”
Festival organisers ordered additional buses for Sunday evening and Monday afternoon. However, there were long waits and difficult scenes as the lack of mobile phone reception hampered communication efforts across the site.

Due to the unfolding events, Pitch organisers have today revealed that punters are eligible for refunds for this year’s event.
“Pitch community, we are pleased to share that together with relevant stakeholders, we have finalised the refund process for Pitch 2024 ticket holders,” a statement on the Pitch Music & Arts Festival website reads.
“As you know, the unique circumstances in which our seventh iteration unfolded presented us with various challenges regarding refunds. Over the past month, we’ve been working around the clock to navigate these challenges in order to provide the best possible outcome.”
All ticket holders are eligible to receive a refund, with the amount of money returned depending on how long punters spent at the festival, “ranging from 70-100%.”
The statement continued, “We hope that this outcome will provide some comfort to our community. You do not need to do anything to receive your refund. The amount you are eligible for will be automatically processed by the ticketing provider you used to purchase tickets.”
Different ticketing providers, including Humanitix, Megatix, and Tixel, have different ticketing policies. You can find out more about them here.
