Catch the band in action in Melbourne this weekend

Over the past 10 years, Pikelet has grown in front of our eyes from unknown prospect to become a creative force with whom to be reckoned, as well as a visible and prolific voice for feminism and civil rights through their work with activist organisation LISTEN.

Now, the celebrated muso — also known as Evelyn Morris — has been announced as the newest signing to the company's eponymous label, LISTEN Records, ahead of their as-yet-untitled, impending fifth full-length.

Pikelet's signing adds them to LISTEN Records' formidable, growing ranks, which already include acts such as Biscotti, Simona Castricum, Hi-Tec Emotions, Stina Tester & Cinta Masters, Shag Planet, Beloved Elk and Claws & Organs.

Due for release later this year, the upcoming record will follow on from 2016's acclaimed effort, Tronc, just the latest in a growing string of celebrated works that date back to 2007's self-titled debut.

Though details on Tronc's successor are scant, fans of Pikelet's eclectic and enchanting tunes will be able to make a date this weekend at Melbourne's Gasometer, with a show lined up for Friday 10 February that also features The Shabbab and Cyanide Thornton.

The gig promises to showcase some new material alongside the undoubted inclusion of old faves, so it should be an unmissable outing for anyone in the vicinity who has previously engaged in any kind of dalliance with Pikelet.
