Promoter Phil Rankine has faced court in Adelaide today following 20 counts of theft from earlier this year.
According to The Advertiser, Rankine has faced the court over allegedly owing $5.5 million to both local and international victims.
Adelaide Magistrates Court documents show that Rankine has been charged with four counts of Aggravated: Dishonestly Take Property Without Consent and 16 counts of Basic Offence: Dishonestly Take Property Without Consent.
Rankine was arrested on 20 June 2020 with the counts with South Australia Police saying "detectives from the Serious and Organised Financial Crime Investigation Section arrested a 51-year-old man from Fitzroy today for 20 counts of theft’’.
One of Rankine's companies, Space Touring Pty Ltd, was put under liquidation in August last year according to ASIC documents. The company had previously been involved with shows for artists like Bon Jovi, Shania Twain, Phil Collins, Florence + The Machine and more.
Rankine is also known for his time as a contestant on Channel Nine series The Block, where he competed with ex-wife Amity Dry in both 2003 and 2013.
