Parkway Drive Are Playing An Epic Metal Festival On An Austrian Mountain

More Parkway Drive More Parkway Drive

Byron metalcore titans Parkway Drive are sacrificing time at home during some of our warmer months to join the line-up for Austria's high-altitude, heavy-centric Full Metal Mountain event in March next year.

The acclaimed local five-piece is, along with UK heavyweights Asking Alexandria, part of the latest wave of acts to be added to the bill, which already included the likes of Amon Amarth, Apocalyptica, Dragonforce, German metal veterans Axxis, home-turf heroes tuXedoo and more, with further acts still to be announced.

Aussie metal fans faithful, curious or wealthy enough to make the trip across to Europe for the festival — the second iteration after a successful first outing this year — are likely to be in for an experience unlike many others — set among ski/snowboard territory at Tröpolach, in Nassfeld, Carinthia, the festival sells itself as a "unique combination of winter vacation with festival feeling". The event is spread over five stages across the ski area, with the primary goal being "cruising down the pistes" — not "cruising around pissed", as you'd more likely find here — in "one of the top 10 skiing areas in Austria while celebrating heavy metal at every corner of the zone".

If that wasn't already making it sound like it might be worth pawning some of your earthly goods in exchange for a plane ticket, the organisers are making some pretty big promises with respect to Parkway Drive's fan engagement at the festival. "Because the band enjoys to ride the slopes too, you will have the opportunity to share the ski runs with them," they said in a statement. "We’re looking forward to an epic breakdown storm and hits like Wild Eyes or Crushed in the Full Metal Tent!"
