Parkway Drive Profile

Byron Bay metalcore heroes Parkway Drive recently announced that last year’s takeover of the Sydney Opera House is coming to cinemas in November, and now they’ve detailed the accompanying live album.

HOME – Live At The Sydney Opera House arrives on Friday, 4 December, via the band’s own Parkway Records and Civilians. Offering fans a first taste of what’s to come, the group have unveiled a stunning live rendition of Prey, backed by a symphony orchestra.

The live album is the soundtrack and accompanying album to the band’s forthcoming film, PARKWAY DRIVE: HOME, which premieres at the State Theatre in Sydney on Tuesday, 10 November, and screens in cinemas worldwide later next month.

For their Sydney Opera House show, Parkway Drive self-funded the milestone to perform to 2,000 fans dressed in their best black-tie attire. And, for one night only, traded their arena-ready pyrotechnic spectacle for something more grounded – heavy metal and an orchestra.

The 20-song tracklist opens with a Welcome to Country that features Matthew Doyle. From there, Parkway Drive perform fan favourite after fan favourite, including Home is For the Heartless, Prey, Carrion, Soul Bleach, The Void, Dark Days, Wild Eyes, and more. Of course, they perform every song in a way fans have never heard before.

Plus, for Shadow Boxing, the band were joined by rapper Nooky, and for A Deathless Song, they were accompanied by Tonight Alive’s Jenna McDougall.

Reviewing the HOME concert last June, The Music’s Alasdair Belling described the show as a “total, unforgettable triumph” and declared: “With a choir also filing onstage for specific songs, it quickly became apparent that, rather than just riffs with string beds, this was a full-tilt heavy metal extravaganza.”
