Reformed hip hop pioneers Outkast have jumped the gun on this year's Splendour In The Grass announcement by announcing they're playing the Byron Bay festival on their website.

The post, which has now been removed, indicated the band will be playing the festival Friday 25 July.

Outkast reformed for American festival Coachella, and despite getting mixed reactions to the festival's first weekend (criticisms included on-stage energy and waning audience attention) appeared to hit their straps on the second weekend according to American media reports.

The full Splendour In The Grass line-up will be revealed this Wednesday 23 April.
