The breakfast tour has extended to Brisbane for the first time ever, followed by Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
The One Of One breakfast tour returns this Women's History Month - March - with the first-ever event in Brisbane taking place on International Women's Day (Wednesday, 8 March).
Following on from Brisbane, One Of One heads to Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. A registered charity event, One Of One is designed to empower women and non-gender conforming members of the Australian music industry. All events besides the final two in Melbourne and Sydney are invite-only, with details to be announced on how to get involved. Tickets go on sale on Monday, 27 February at 9 am. Find them here.
In 2021, One Of One was held at the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl. The breakfast featured performances from Thando & Sunburnt Soul Choir and The Merindas, with DJ sets from Sophie McAlister. Legendary promoter Michael Gudinski was honoured with speeches from Mushroom Group's Linda Bosidis and Susan Heymann.
Musician and doctor Gordi was this year's keynote speaker, speaking of her experiences working in both fields during the COVID-19 pandemic. "The two industries I worked in would be hardest hit, in very different ways," she shared.
Bakehouse Studios owner Helen Marcou AM announced a new bursaries series for women and non-binary musicians. The bursaries offer fully-supported studio time that will be offered quarterly as "ten quick-release bursaries for rehearsal packages to encourage and invest in greater participation of women in live performance, creation of new work, collaboration and skills development".
On taking One Of One to Brisbane, the founders note, "The music industry in Meanjin is thriving now, more than ever before. It’s home to so many amazing women and non-binary folk and we cannot wait to get them all together in one room to chat, celebrate and watch some very talented speakers and performers.
