Olivia Rodrigo ProfileOlivia Rodrigo has made fans’ dreams come true.
Earlier this week, fans began speculating after Rodrigo turned up the volume on an Instagram Story that included a short clip of a Pro Tools project for an unconfirmed song.
Viewers only heard the very beginning, when a voice that sounds like Chappell Roan says, “Ooh, Olivia does remixes now.”
The video ends right as the pause button is pressed, but eager listeners caught a kick drum they linked to the track expectations, a high-energy highlight from Rodrigo’s new album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
MusicRadar notes that the teaser’s audio file was labelled Jupiter, which could point to the Roland synthesiser of the same name. For the uninitiated, expectations opens with a funky, fast-paced synth line that continues throughout the track.

Rodrigo could have let speculation run wild all week. Instead, she confirmed that Chappell Roan does indeed appear on a remix of expectations, and the new version drops this Thursday (15 October – well, probably the following day for Australian fans).
Confirming that the remix is on the way, Rodrigo shared an image of herself with Roan on Instagram and captioned the photo: “beyond excited to announce ‘expectations’ featuring Chappell Roan!!! song and video out Thursday!!!!”
Keep your eyes peeled for the music video.
While some of Rodrigo’s peers, including Charli xcx, PinkPantheress, and Zara Larsson, have released remix versions of their recent albums, the vampire hitmaker hasn’t done so just yet. We’ll have to wait and see if expectations with Chappell Roan is a one-off or part of a larger release.
Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are close friends, and the latter recently discussed the former’s influence on her music in an interview with triple j. Plus, they both performed at Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival, which featured women and gender-diverse artists.
In June, Rodrigo released her highly anticipated third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. It debuted at #1 in Australia.
