Oh Mercy Score Highest Aussie Debut On ARIA Albums Chart

Melbourne indie rock quartet Oh Mercy have cracked the top 30 on the ARIA Albums Chart, making them the highest debuting Aussie act to feature this week, coming in at #28.

The band’s fourth record, When We Talk About Love, will see them hit Splendour In The Grass next month before embarking on a national album tour in August.

Fellow Splendour acts Everything Everything and Wolf Alice also made it into the chart: Everything Everything placing one spot behind Oh Mercy with their new studio album Get To Heaven coming in at #29. Wolf Alice's My Love Is Cool landed at #41.

International star Hilary Duff scored the highest debuting album in the Albums Chart with her new studio album, Breathe In Breathe Out (4) while US soul singer Leon Bridges' Coming Home entered at #8 and Breaking Benjamin’s Dark Before Dawn came in at #11.

Veteran performer James Taylor was next in at #12 with Before This World and Lindemann’s Skills In Pills came in at #17.

Although Sydney’s Golden Features didn’t crack the top 40 on the Singles Charts with XXIV as midweek figures suggested, the dance producer’s new single debuted 56.

Other highlights on the Singles Chart include the new track from Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy, Golden, being the highest debut single at 36. Sia lends guest vocals on the track, and it seems anything she touches does indeed turn to gold.

Brisbane singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell’s Start Again was knocked out of first place, after only one week at the top, by Meghan Trainor’s Like I’m Gonna Lose You working it’s way to #1.
