Oh Mercy Name New Album Deep Heat
They've also signed an American record deal.
Oh Mercy have called their new album Deep Heat and will release it Friday 24 August. The Melbourne based outfit, who have been recording the record in Portland, Oregon, have also announced they've inked a deal with American indie label Bad Cop Bad Cop after meeting at this year's South By Southwest showcase.
Frontman and songwriter Alex Gow said that the album's name came about as he "was trying to think of what title I would give to an 80's dub compilation... Deep Heat was the winner."
As theMusic.com.au revealed previously, the band have been recording with Australian producer Burke Reid who's worked on albums from The Drones, The Mess Hall and Jack Ladder.
Today Gow said that, "He works with bands to make the album the bands want to make. Burke helped me realise my pre-conceived conceptual approach to the album and encouraged me to push past the comfort zones I had recorded music within in the past."

On their signing the American deal, Bad Cop Bad Cop's Michael Nieves said, "We couldn't possibly be more excited to welcome Oh Mercy to the Bad Cop Bad Cop family. We have long admired their fantastic music, and Alexander and the band have written and recorded their strongest and most infectious songs to date. Oh Mercy is a career artist, and we are thrilled to be partnering with them on the release of Deep Heat".
