Ocean Alley are back and ready to warm you up this winter with their forthcoming album, Love Balloon.

The band’s fifth album will be released in spring – on Friday, 19 September, via Community Music – but the joyous title track has arrived today. Love Balloon, the song, offers blissful insight into the Australian band’s creative direction on their new album—an album that’s confident and full of character.

Following the light-hearted releases of previously released singles Tangerine and Left Of The Dealer, the new track features a funky Nile Rodgers-inspired guitar riff, with a touch of disco blossoming through the bassline. You can check out the single below.

On their new album, Ocean Alley teamed up with producer Nick DiDia, who’s worked with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine, and Powderfinger. The ten-track album finds the band exploring life and love, light, vulnerability, and human connection. An introspective, raw release, DiDia brings a stripped-back quality to the songs.

Keyboardist and vocalist Lach Galbraith said of the new LP, “The album explores the many layered dimensions of love - not just the cinematic kind where you're falling head over heels, but the full spectrum: joy, hurt, discomfort and disappointment.

“Let’s call it the river of love - whether it’s with a partner, a friend, or family, you never know when it’ll get deep, go shallow, or suddenly change course. It’s such a force that you have to just surrender to its current.”

The band – Baden Donegal (vocals), Angus Goodwin (guitar), Lach Galbraith (keys/vocals), Mitch Galbraith (guitar), Tom O’Brien (drums) and Nic Blom (bass) – have found success in Australia and New Zealand, but also the UK and US, where they’re set to perform at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits festivals this year.
