'It was simple; I had to sign them.'
Ascendant Byron Bay grunge two-piece Elegant Shiva have added another feather to their proverbial cap with the news that they have signed to the Australian arm of international independent publishing powerhouse peermusic.
The prestige of the deal shouldn't be understated; with 32 offices across 28 countries, the 89-year-old company commands a catalogue of more than 250,000 titles hailing from a diversity of genres from country and blues to Latin music, rock, jazz and pop.
Despite their size, the company remains a tight-knit group, something that Elegant Shiva frontman Joshua Swan credits as being a big part of their appeal in the band's decision to jump on board.
"Coming from Byron Bay, family and community is everything to us," he said in a statement. "Peermusic is not just a publishing company, but newfound family members."

Describing his first taste of Elegant Shiva's tunes as "instant love at first bite", peermusic Australia's Gary Seeger raved that Joshua and his partner in crime, drummer Matt Swan, are "larger than life, focused and full of spirit".
"They delivered four great demos in four days," he said. "It was simple; I had to sign them."
The news comes ahead of a busy spell for the band, with the pair making plans to start recording their debut full-length soon, as well as being set to make international headway with a trip to the US and Europe.
