Northlane have shared a couple of updates with fans after rescheduling their forthcoming Australian tour and pushing back their album release by a month.

It’s not all bad news, though, as the Australian metal band unveiled the new single Deathwish from their forthcoming album Anemoia. Originally scheduled for release next Friday (30 October), the album is now set for Friday, 27 November, due to production delays.

In a stunning showcase of modern Northlane, Deathwish layers synths, features soaring clean vocals in the chorus, and delivers an absolutely crushing breakdown in the electro-metal banger. Check out the single below.

The band were scheduled to tour across Australia and New Zealand next month, but it’s been rescheduled to May 2027 as guitarist Josh Smith requires “immediate treatment for worsening chronic health issues.”

The band will announce the revised dates soon, and existing ticket holders have valid tickets.

“Alongside the album delay, Josh has been dealing with significant, rapidly worsening chronic health issues over the past two years and now requires immediate intervention, which will prevent him from travelling or performing,” the band explained in a statement.

They continued, “With his health and rehabilitation a priority, alongside the delayed release of the record, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule our Australia & New Zealand tour to May 2027.”

Northlane have also moved their upcoming Melbourne Listening Party to Friday, 20 November, a week before the album’s release, making attendees the first in the world to hear Anemoia in its entirety.

The band wrote, “These decisions have been incredibly tough to make. Delivering the full experience to you matters to us, and we don’t take decisions like this lightly. We recognise the impact these changes may have on those who’ve made plans around the original dates, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.”

While the band’s Australian tour has been impacted, their upcoming run with Dayseeker and their North American headline tour, taking place later this year and in early 2027, respectively, are going ahead as planned.

The band concluded, “As a thank you for your continued support, we’re releasing our new single, ‘Deathwish,’ ahead of schedule.”

Anemoia was executive produced by Jordan Fish (Poppy, Evanescence) and inspired by a “mind-altering set” from UK producer and DJ Evian Christ. As a result, guitarist and songwriter Jon Deiley wanted to explore how trance could naturally work with guitars and heavy music.

The new record is the long-awaited follow-up to Northlane’s #1 album, Obsidian, released in 2022 and “toys with the concept of feeling nostalgia for a time or place one has never known.”

Vocalist Marcus Bridge shared, “There’s darkness here, but it’s not nihilism - and there’s hope, but it’s not naivety.”
