But there's no Kelis on her new mixtape, unfortunately

More Nina Las Vegas More Nina Las Vegas

Nina Las Vegas is set to drop the first triple j House Party mixtape this Friday, a two CD compilation featuring tracks from Missy Elliot, Urthboy, Parachute Youth, Knife Party, Nero amongst others.

Kelis didn't make the cut though, despite Vegas admitting that Kaleidoscope is one of her favourite albums – having manipulated her father into buying it and stealing it from him in her younger years.

Talking to theMusic.com.au she admitted, “Due to my dad's music purchasing addiction, I didn't need to buy anything of my own until my late teens. They also had amazing - and slightly unpredictable - taste, so it was easy to convince Dad to try something out and get the odd LP I suggested.”

She continued, “I can actually remember the day when my Dad brought home two CDs, Josh Abrahams' Sweet Distorted Holiday and Kelis' debut album Kaleidoscope. I stole both immediately! To this day, Kaleidoscope is still one of my favourite albums. The Neptunes [the producers], the cover art and general Kelis vibe was so ahead of its time.”
