Nick Ward Announces Tour In Support Of ‘House With The Blue Door’

Nick Ward has announced a short run of headline shows launch his forthcoming debut album, House With The Blue Door.

The stint will begin in Melbourne (Naarm) on Friday October 18, when the singer-songwriter takes over The Night Cat alongside FRIDAY* – who will also open up at at the other two shows – and Juice Webster. Ward will head to Brisbane (Meanjin) next, playing the Black Bear Lodge on Saturday October 19 (with additional support from King Ivy), before wrapping things up at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney (Gadigal) on Friday October 25 – Dylan Atlantis will also jump on that lineup.

House With The Blue Door is primed for release on October 4 via EMI, with singles shared thus far including Shooting Star, Gimme and All Your Life. In a statement shared along the album’s announcement, Ward explained that it’s “about family, childhood, and the difficult relationship we have with the past”.

He continued: “think your early-twenties is about coming to terms with your childhood, especially after finishing high school and experiencing more of the world. Starting therapy really made me realise how much emotional baggage I was holding onto, and this record was made while I was unpacking all of that.

“I finished this album right before my 22nd birthday, so it felt nice to encapsulate my adolescence in one statement. For a while it was hard for me to listen to, just because of the headspace I was in while making it, but now it brings me a lot of joy and it gives me closure to finally release it.”
