Nick Cave And Safia Battle It Out For #1 Aus Debut

It's a tight race

More Nick Cave Nick Cave

Aussie icons Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Canberra trendsetters Safia are both on track for top 3 debuts on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart, vying for first place with their formidable respective releases.

Cave’s powerful, emotionally raw new album Skeleton Tree dropped on Friday providing a harrowingly beautiful insight into the songwriter's grieving process following the untimely death of his son.

In contrast to Cave’s sixteenth studio album, Safia launch their debut, Internal, with a massive tour in support.

US country music royalty Jason Aldean is eyeing off a top 5 debut with They Don’t Know, while UK indie pop quartet Bastille’s Wild World and Devin Townsend Project’s Transcendence looking to crack the top 10.

You can also expect to see two collab records from Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris crack the top 20 alongside Jack White’s Acoustic Recordings release, Grouplove’s Big Mess, and Wilco’s Schmilco.

Other local album debuts will come in the form of What So Not’s Divide & Conquer, The Hard Aches’ I Freak Out and Northeast Party House with Dare.

Over on the Singles Chart, Lady Gaga and Guy Sebastian are set to make top 10 debuts, while Sia’s Kendrick Lamar collab, The Greatest, moves up with Katy Perry, Imany and Zara Larsson.
