Dave Grohl's new TV show with his mum is set to premiere on Aussie TV screens this weekend.

Announced earlier this year, From Cradle To Stage - which explores "the innately personal and remarkable bond between mother and musician" - will premiere on MTV Classic from 3pm this Sunday (9 May).

The six-part series is based on Virginia Grohl's 2017-released book, From Cradle To Stage: Stories From The Mothers Who Rocked And Raised Rock Stars and sees the Foo Fighters frontman also jump behind the camera as director.

According to MTV, From Cradle To Stage will see "Dave and Virginia go on the road to explore the stories of a famous performer and their mother as they look back on their journey from childhood to stardom. Sharing home movies, family photos and stories from the road, the series takes a deeply personal look at the never before seen moments from some of the worlds most iconic musicians".

A number of massive names will appear throughout, including Pharrell Williams, Miranda Lambert, Brandi Carlile and Tom Morello.
