A worthy cause for your support
Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD), a charity that works to support, guide and mentor young adults who are caught in a negative cycle through music, are launching a brand new campaign this Monday, 23 November called #MMAD4U Day, to raise awareness for the cause and encourage people to share their messages of support.
With support from Thundamentals' Tuka, Perth alt rockers Birds Of Tokyo, electro act KLP, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Troye Sivan and more, #MMAD4U brings attention to the ten young lives in the program currently, sharing their stories of experiencing adversity and turning their lives around to achieve their full potentials.
One MMAD Rising Star shares, "Crimes were natural to me, still battling addiction. Been to rehab and mental institutions. I’m not a quitter though, I still have fight in me, with the help of good friends, family MMAD family and music, I rise up," while another says, "You live your life with no regret…drunk nights in punk fights…but it is never too late to pick up your pen and pad. Turn your pain into art, from a broken man to something promising, it’s so astonishing what can happen in a year. You can conquer all your feats, this place has saved me. I wanna break free and if I’m MMAD it’s the only thing I wanna be."
The ten kids in the program worked on all aspects of the campaign — designing the logo, helping with merchandise, as well as writing a song called MMAD4U which was ultimately worked on by Tuka and KLP, and will serve to raise money for the MMAD cause.
