The Newcastle house and techno festival reveal that, "ticket sales were not where we needed them to be to be able to continue."
More NRG Music & Arts Festival have unfortunately had to cancel their 2023 festival.
In a statement on Instagram the festival posted, "to be transparent, ticket sales were not where we needed them to be to be able to continue.
"We were prepared to face the culture shift of last minute ticket sales that has been so common throughout the industry.
"Unfortunately, everything from light rain to storms have been forecasted for the next week. These predictions are continuing to change on a daily basis but with the combination of already low ticket sales we have to manage risk.
"Choosing to move forward if the forecasted unfavourable weather conditions take place, this would result in a grinding halt to all late sales that were likely to come in."
The post continued, "a financial loss of that magnitude means we would never be able to recover.

"By cancelling now we will be back next year. Newcastle deserves an electronic music festival of this calibre and you have our word that we will give one to you."
More NRG poured their "heart and soul" into the curation of the festival, featuring a stellar lineup and a promised amazing set design. External factors are currently making promoting exceptionally hard as we emerge from a post-lockdown world and economic factors make the costs of festivals higher than they ever have been.
Like us, many people in the Newcastle dance community and beyond have shared their love for the promoters 404.

Cassettes For Kids stated, "I’m so deeply sorry to hear this gang. You did everything you could to make this work yet you were still dealt a hard card. I hope you’re doing alright and I wish you the best."
One punter commented, "404 is the backbone of the Techno community in Newcastle and we can’t wait for what’s next in store," while another said, "We will be here waiting for the next one!"
