Mona Foma is set to expand with the much-loved Tassie event to run across two cities in 2021.

The annual festival will continue its stint in Launceston from 15-17 January and then return to its former home of Hobart from 22-24 January.

58 venues will play home to the event across the two cities, with over 350 artists involved in the festival, with 90% of them Tasmanian locals.

"These are interesting times," said Mona Foma curator Brian Ritchie

"Mona Foma has embraced them by engaging with many of the artistic and architectural gems of Launceston and Hobart. We are thrilled to present site specific performances and installations that could only happen here and now. Get amongst it."

The Broken Girls Club, Dinette & Confetti, Augie March's Glenn Richards, Luca Brasi, Mainlanders, United States of Amnesia, Slag Queens, Slaughterhäus Surf Cult and The Sin & Tonics all join the music line-up, which will take form as the Mofo Sessions and take place in both cities.

Other festival highlights include the Acoustic Life Of Boatsheds in Launceston which will see attendees journey along the Tamar and Esk Rivers "exploring boatsheds along the way with musicians performing compositions inspired by each shed’s hidden culture and character".

Cataract Gorge will once again be a key feature of the event, with festival staple Robin Fox to take over with the world premiere of Aqua Luma featuring twelve-metre-high water jets, lasers and an electronic composition beamed straight to your phone.

Cataract Gorge will also feature Chairway To Heaven by Rachael Kim, Katerina Stathis and Mads Davey based around the Gorge's iconic chairlift "which sings an evolving new composition for rare analogue synthesisers: a meditation on the ebb and flow of life cycles, and an ode to nature".

Instrument Builders Project 5 will see four artists collaborate, conceive, construct and then play an instrument together. Morning Mediations will return once more - taking places in both cities - as will Terrapin's The Ubus

Punters can also take a stroll through the Forest Gin Walk too, accompanied by the Van Diemen's Fiddles and gin cocktails.

Head to the Mona Foma website here to see the full line-up.
