“To be selected by Michael Gudinski and have him believe in my music is a great honour."
Gold Coast songwriter Mitch King has been announced as the second signing to Michael Gudinski's newest label, Reclusive Records.
The Mushroom Group Chairman launched the label in June last year with a focus on "career development and being patient with artists" and King's signing coincides with the release of his new single, Oil & Water, co-written with Mark Lizotte (aka Diesel).
“I have always been fascinated with the one-man band concept. After seeing Mitch perform live, I knew there was something unique and special about him," Gudinski said.
"The fact that Mitch’s song Coming Back was used and embraced by the NFL team, the Green Bay Packers, was a true testament to his song writing and I was surprised that he wasn’t already signed after that!
"The reaction we had after Mitch performed 5 Seconds Of Summer’s track Youngblood on The State Of Music was incredible and it made it clear that we had to have him on Reclusive.”

King added, "To be selected by Michael Gudinski and have him believe in my music is a great honour.
"I’m really looking forward to releasing lots of new music this year. Thank you to Michael, [A&R manager] Andrew Mackie, and the whole Mushroom team - I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our new partnership.”
Following the release of Oil & Water, King is expected to release an EP later this year.
