“I’m really proud to have my music featured in this particular show.”
Aus songwriting royalty Missy Higgins has shared her brand new tune Edge Of Something - her first solo track in nearly a year.
The track began life as an 80 second snippet commissioned for the ABC drama Total Control. However, Higgins and producer Brendon Love turned the piece into a full length tune - starting again from scratch and building the song from the ground up.
“I’m really proud to have my music featured in this particular show,” Higgins said of her involvement with the series. “It’s a compelling drama about the challenges women face in public life so I think it’s ‘must see TV' after all the revelations coming out of Canberra this year.”
The new single comes just a week after it was announced that the Scar singer would be hitting the road next year as part of the all-female WIldflower festival.
"All the women involved are total inspirations and some were actually really big influences on me in the early days of my career,” she noted of the lineup. “There’s something about being on the road with so many powerful creative women, it’s so rare it kind of creates magic when it happens."
The expanded workload is an exciting one for the performer, who says that after the ongoing lockdowns in Melbourne, it will be good to get back out there.

“It’s been lovely to get so much 'quality time' with my young family over the last 18 months,” she said, “but if I’ve learned anything it’s that making music keeps me sane!”
