Fans and the Australian music industry already knew that Miss Kaninna is primed for world domination, and now, she features on a billboard in the heart of New York City.

The electronic billboard is presented by Amazon Music and its Artists To Watch program. Miss Kaninna, a rising voice in hip-hop, stars alongside emerging artists in R&B, country, dance, Latin, rock, alternative, K-pop, J-Pop, classical, and more. Other artists on the Artists To Watch list are Braxton Keith, Fcukers, Kettama, President, and fellow Australians, Folk Bitch Trio.

Reacting to seeing her name and face on a billboard on the other side of the globe, Miss Kaninna said, “IM ON A FUCKING BILLBOARD…. IN TIMES FUCKING SQUARE….NEW YORK !!!!! Check out the ‘Artist to Watch’ Playlist in my bio.”

You can see her Instagram post featuring the billboard below.

Amazon has launched this year’s Artists To Watch program with a playlist featuring all 49 acts, eight exclusive Amazon Music Originals, and marketing inside and outside of the Amazon Music app.

“Artists To Watch is one of the most meaningful initiatives we lead each year, because it’s about backing artists early, and championing them at this crucial stage in their career,” said Paul Firth, Amazon Music’s Global Head of Music.

Firth added, “For 2026, we’re spotlighting 49 exceptional emerging artists from around the world and supporting them where fans discover music – across our biggest playlists and through a new slate of Amazon Music Originals available exclusively on Amazon Music.”

Miss Kaninna’s addition to the Artists To Watch list comes as she promotes her energetic new single, BACKSTREETS.

A departure from her previous singles, such as Blak Britney and Pinnacle Bitch, BACKSTREETS finds Miss Kaninna slowing down and embracing pop and R&B, singing and showcasing her vulnerability juxtaposed with her strength.

In 2024, Miss Kaninna made history as the first Indigenous woman to be nominated for an ARIA Award for a debut single, receiving three nominations for Blak Britney.

Following the release of her debut EP, KANINNA, she won Best Independent Hip-Hop EP/Album and Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year at the 2025 AIR Australian Independent Music Awards. At last year’s ARIA Awards, she was nominated for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Release, Best Independent Release and Best Australian Live Act.

Miss Kaninna kicked off 2026 with performances at Beyond The Valley and Wildlands festivals, and next month, will support De La Soul at their huge East Coast dates.
