'Flowers' brings in a new era for Miley Cyrus, as she tackles the mammoth task of self-love.
Miley Cyrus has officially dropped her first single, Flowers, off her hotly anticipated album ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION, set for release on March 10.
If anyone has seen her rock-fueled covers of Blondie's Heart Of Glass or Madonna's Like A Prayer, it seemed that expectations were high for the new single and fans were hoping for something with a lot of punch, which on the first listen of Flowers, isn’t necessarily what we got.
However, the single still shines bright, just in a different way. With a rhythmic baseline and soft melodic synths, Cyrus’ strong and husky vocals have more than enough room to fly. Akin to old-school slow-burn pop hits of the eighties, Flowers definitely kicks off a new era for Cyrus, but more than anything, it's an anthem of self-love. You might not hear it on a nightclub dancefloor, but it’s clear that people all around the world will hold this song close to their hearts.
Along with the new song, the Plastic Hearts singer dropped a dazzling music video that perfectly encapsulates the theme of the song, “I can love me better, baby.”
Cyrus has six #1 albums, including her 2013 GRAMMY-nominated album BANGERZ, which is also certified 3x platinum in the U.S. In addition, she has had an impressive five sold-out world tours throughout her career. In November 2020, Miley dropped her highly anticipated seventh studio album, PLASTIC HEARTS. The critically acclaimed album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart and is her sixth #1 album, giving Cyrus the most top 10 album debuts on the chart for female artists this century.
