Gudinski has topped Billboard's International Power Players List following his passing last month.

The international influence of the late Michael Gudinski has been recognised via a posthumous honour from Billboard.

Having previously been named on Billboard's International Power Players List as a leading Australian music figure, Gudinski has now been awarded its top place and has been named International Power Players Executive of the Year.

The annual list of label executives, music publishers, independent entrepreneurs, artist managers and concert promoters “recognises industry leaders — nominated by their companies and peers and selected by [Billboard] editors — with primary responsibility outside the United States”.

“A music industry pioneer."

In making the announcement, Billboard noted that Gudinski “achieved success in all of those roles and more”.

“A music industry pioneer whose Mushroom Group would become a template for independent companies, Gudinski, with his exuberant personality, became the face of his country’s music scene.

“In recognition of his incomparable five-decade music career, Billboard posthumously honours Gudinski as our International Power Players Executive of the Year.”

Gudinski passed away in early March and was honoured later that month at a memorial that featured Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran, Jimmy Barnes and more.

Also ranked on this year’s list is Dan Rosen (President of Warner Music Australasia), Denis Handlin AO (Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand), George Ash (President, Universal Music Australia & New Zealand) and Andrew Hajgato (Label manager, Australia, Concord Recorded Music).

Music From The Home Front

Gudinski's Billboard honour follows on from this past weekend’s huge Music From The Home Front concert in Melbourne that the music industry legend was working on up until his passing.

The ANZAC Day Eve concert took place at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl and featured Amy Shark, Lime Cordiale, Tash Sultana, The Rubens and more at the venue alongside streamed performances from the likes of Crowded House, Delta Goodrem, Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena and others.
